Shadowboxing – Choreography / Video

What can a body do when it is devoid of another body? Can the body dance in distance or with itself? What would this dance be? In this work, Dmitry Paranyushkin and Kirikoo Des explore the choreographic concepts based on their EightOS practice. They are exploring the traces of the movements their bodies leave on and inside each other, conjuring them as they disappear into memory or into a different time and space. Filmed by Ivan Rubio the video below is an excerpt from this ongoing work. Co-Isolated Multiplicities at Milano Triennale

In these EightOS sessions, curated by Joel Valabrega at Milano Trienale, we wanted to create an experience for the participants to explore the notion of co-isolated multiplicity, both on the level of the body, group interactions, relationship to the space, and music. Together with the participants we set up a common body language exploring the notions of confluence and adaptivity. A surround sound setup was used to enhance the sonic atmosphere and to provide feedback to the movement. We also used the sound to modulate group dynamics, playing with the physical sense of cohesion and dispersion as well as the general rhythm. Read more about these sessions in our EightOS report. Modular Synthesis at V-A-C Venice

During the Venice Biennale 2019 we presented our work at V-A-C Foundation. The core of the presentation was the EightOS approach and its extrapolation both into physical movement and into sound. We were interested to invite the participants to explore the notions of confluence in various settings: ranging from Venice streets to public gyms, museum spaces, nature, and beaches. Using the principles from modular synthesis and music-making we invited the participants to explore the aesthetics of confluence both on the level of the body and of the sound. An immersive sound installation by OS/X.Y. with eight speakers was used to create a dynamic environment in a reciprocal feedback loop with the music. You can read more about these sessions in our report on the EightOS website. Here are some photos and videos from these events. Practicing Theory through the Body at MIME Centrum Berlin

In this 2-day activation hosted at the MIME Centrum in Berlin, we've explored the notions of non-equilibrium stability using the body as a vessel to study complex systems metaphors. The format of the session was a combination of physical and theoretical work. We used scientific research and visualizations as an inspiration in order to then explore and develop the ideas further using physical movement. A theoretical presentation would be followed by physical movement experiments, followed by a discussion and feedback rounds, developing the theory further and going back into practice. This was the unique element of the approach where we practice the theory through the body, learning the new interesting ways to activate those ideas on the unconscious level, into the body. We've developed both individual and group exercises that allowed the participants to represent and explore multiple concepts from physics and thermodynamics using physical movement. We also worked on the...

“Switch” at Palais de Tokyo

During La Manutention NSDOS residence at Palais de Tokyo curated by Vittoria Matarrese we presented the "Switch" performance (Koo Des + Dmitry Paranyushkin). In this performance we explore how movement, visual perception, sound, language and code can align together to produce a meaning, how connectedness is the primary organizing principle in the process of making sense.   ...

Bodymind Operating Systems @ Hyperwerk, Basel

In March 2018 we (Pedro Jardim, Dmitry Paranyushkin, and Nathalie Abbot) conducted a 4-day ∞OS workshop at Hyperwerk School for Postindustrial Design on Building Organizational Bodymind Operating Systems. During the workshop, we researched how embodied experience can be used to better understand and acquire various organizational behavior principles. We demonstrated how adaptivity, resilience, and escalation modulation can be used in collaborative settings for conflict resolution. Together with the participants we also researched the various strategies one can use to find and implement their own agency in a group setting or challenging social situations. You can find more information about the workshop on the EightOS website. ...
