Co-Isolated Multiplicities at Milano Triennale

In these EightOS sessions, curated by Joel Valabrega at Milano Trienale, we wanted to create an experience for the participants to explore the notion of co-isolated multiplicity, both on the level of the body, group interactions, relationship to the space, and music. Together with the participants we set up a common body language exploring the notions of confluence and adaptivity. A surround sound setup was used to enhance the sonic atmosphere and to provide feedback to the movement. We also used the sound to modulate group dynamics, playing with the physical sense of cohesion and dispersion as well as the general rhythm. Read more about these sessions in our EightOS report. Modular Synthesis at V-A-C Venice

During the Venice Biennale 2019 we presented our work at V-A-C Foundation. The core of the presentation was the EightOS approach and its extrapolation both into physical movement and into sound. We were interested to invite the participants to explore the notions of confluence in various settings: ranging from Venice streets to public gyms, museum spaces, nature, and beaches. Using the principles from modular synthesis and music-making we invited the participants to explore the aesthetics of confluence both on the level of the body and of the sound. An immersive sound installation by OS/X.Y. with eight speakers was used to create a dynamic environment in a reciprocal feedback loop with the music. You can read more about these sessions in our report on the EightOS website. Here are some photos and videos from these events. 4 August 2016: ∞OS + NSDOS @ NII Moscow

For this occasion at Nauka i Iskusstvo art+music venue in Moscow, Russia, we created a special session that combined ∞OS training with a live music performance by NSDOS supported by Aerodynamika. First we introduced some basic movement principles from ∞OS to activate wave-like oscillatory physicality. As the workshop unfolded, NSDOS (Koo Des) set up a biofeedback auditory system using the camera sensors that would affect the sound and projected image in space. The workshop gradually shifted towards more of a party-like atmosphere, with people being extremely sensitive to each other's movement and to their position in space. Special thanks to Alexander and Marina of NII for inviting us and to Lucy Savelieva for making the photos. ...

Controller Settings

Readers often ask: how to use various controllers to control the oscillatory flow in Traktor DJ? Here are reports of some findings in that matter. First, if you Pioneer CDJ-2000 Nexus for controlling your Traktor DJ decks, you should know that it's possible to control all the 4 decks in Traktor with only one CDJ. In order to do switch from one deck to another press and hold the browser knob. Also, the default mapping to Traktor is not behaving exactly in the same way as CDJ2000 itself does, so here is the controller mappings file that would enable Loop 1/2x and 2x modes control (increase and decrease the length of the loop set by the Loop Mode button on CDJ using Cue/Loop Call arrow buttons. Second, if you're using Traktor Kontrol X1, you can set that the top knobs adjust the tempo, which is very useful, so you don't have to use...
